You may or may not be aware that Governor Dunleavy signed SB 74 into law on August 31. This bill enables AK to join the Interstate Licensing Compact.
LeeAnne Carrothers, PT, PhD and Governor Dunleavy celebrate the signing into law, Alaska becoming part of the national Physical Therapy Compact. This was the culmination of years of preparation, lobbying and hard work by APTA Alaska. Once fully enacted, more Alaskans will have access to our valuable services and our value will be extended as a result. Thanks to our lobbying efforts and support from National!
APTA ALASKA HAS A STORY TO TELL. IT’S A STORY OF a successful partnership between chapter leadership and local private practices to provide a valuable community service. It’s a story of giving and belief in our beautiful profession. We are providing physical therapy services to people with financial barriers to care. Their lives have been diminished and without our help would not otherwise be receiving crucial interventions.
Despite the fact that SB 74 passed both the House and Senate, it has yet to be signed by the Governor, which is the next required step for it to become a law.
The 2024 APTA Lucy Blair Service Award has been posthumously awarded to Jodi Pfeiffer, PTA, MHA.
