May 10, 2016: First-ever guidelines on stroke rehabilitation contain 2 big-picture ideas: namely, that effective rehabilitation requires a sustained, coordinated, multidisciplinary effort; and that rehabilitation should not be eyed as an area for belt-tightening, but as an investment in reducing downstream morbidity and associated costs.
